Kerry Logistics announced that it has begun construction of an 85,300-square-foot facility in Wuxi, China, an economic hotspot in the Jiangsu province. With a capacity of 10,000 tonnes, the Wuxi Logistics Centre is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2012.
The Wuxi Logistics Centre will be the first logistics facility in its area to cater to the electronics and high-tech, retail, healthcare, auto spare parts and pharmaceutical sectors, Kerry Logistics said.
It will also be in a prime location. Close to both the Wuxi Sunan International Airport and the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, the Wuxi Logistics Centre will be able to benefit from the increased trade in these areas.
To Edwardo Erni, managing director of mainland China for Kerry Logistics, the construction of this facility represents a significant achievement for his company. “This is an important milestone for Kerry Logistics to meet the needs of our growing customer base in Jiangsu province,” he said in a statement. “The facility will be offering services include warehousing, value-added services, distribution and freight.”
Kerry broke ground on a 42,600-square-meter logistics facility in Xiamen earlier this month. The development is expected to come online during the third quarter of next year.
