Singapore Changi Airport handled 152,900 tonnes of freight in July, a 4.5 percent, year-over-year, decline. From a rolling 12-month perspective, however, the airport’s total tonnage — 1.85 million tonnes — was relatively consistent with July 2010 to July 2011 volumes.
Air Astana has named Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd. as its freight-handling agent for its twice-weekly Boeing 757 flights to Hong Kong International Airport, which commenced on August 28. Hactl will also provide Air Astana with airfreight documentation services.
CSafe LLC and IAG Cargo have agreed to expand the IAG Cargo Constant Climate service to pharmaceutical companies necessitating temperature control during transportation. Under the new master lease agreement the companies signed, freight forwarders can lease temperature-controlled containers through IAG Cargo, without having to return the unit to the supplier following use.
Etihad Airways and China Eastern Airlines have inked a codeshare agreement, following the MoU the carriers signed in March. Under the new deal, China Eastern will place its code on Etihad Airways flights to destinations outside of its network while Etihad Airways will share its code on China Eastern’s domestic services beyond its Shanghai hub.
Aerolíneas Argentinas has joined the SkyTeam Alliance as its 18th member. The Argentinian flag carrier becomes SkyTeam’s first South American member and adds 40 new destinations to the alliance’s network.
