A small crocodile reportedly escaped the cargo hold of a Qantas passenger flight on behalf of Australian Air Express. Reports out of Australia indicate that Qantas officials quickly recaptured the animal and returned it to its cage. Investigations concerning whether the crocodile was properly contained and loaded are currently underway.
Dubai International Airport handled 190,770 tonnes of cargo in August, a 4.4 percent, year-over-year, increase. Freight volumes at DIA are also up from an eight-month perspective, surging 3 percent from January-to-August 2011.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has granted three commercial space transportation projects in California, Colorado and Hawaii nearly $500,000 in matching grants. In a statement FAA Acting Administrator Michael Huerta said the grants “help keep America competitive by investing in space transportation infrastructure development.”
Boeing has announced that launch customer All Nippon Airlines has ordered 11 additional 787-9 Dreamliners, an order valued at $2.7 billion. The addition of these aircraft bring the total number of Dreamliners ANA has ordered to 66.
