UPS has announced that it doesn’t expect to close its €5.16 billion acquisition of TNT Express until early 2013, due to an extension of the European Union’s review. The deal was originally slated to close in the fourth quarter of 2012, despite UPS extending the offer period for TNT Express from August 31 until November 9.
Delta Air Lines transported 205,156 tonnes of cargo in August, a 5.7 percent, year-over-year, increase. The Atlanta-based carrier’s freight operations are also up slightly from an eight-month perspective, improving 0.8 percent from January-to-August 2011.
Dachser has opened a new facility in Nanjing, China, its 18th office in China and Taiwan. The global forwarder will provide both airfreight and seafreight services in the Nanjing region, including the cities of Yangzhou, Zhenjiang, Wuhu, Nantong, Zhangjiagang, Wuhan and Yichang.
Etihad Cargo has hired a new cargo sales team for India, an action that will strengthen the carrier’s freight operations in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Chennai. The United Arab Emirates-based carrier has also appointed AVS Cargo Management Services as its new general sales agent for the region.
