Malaysian carrier AirAsia X saw freight volumes rise 13 percent, year-over-year, to 19,714 tonnes in the nine months of 2012, with 7,251 tonnes transported during the third quarter. The long-haul arm of the low-fare airline also carried 640,000 passengers in the third quarter, which represents growth of 40 percent over the same period in 2011 on continuing routes.
Air Logistics Group has opened a new facility in Estonia, boosting its Eastern European network. The Air Logistics Group now operates 64 facilities across 40 countries, with offices recently opened in South Africa and Australia.
Swissport International has signed a ground-handling contract with fastjet, a new, African low-cost carrier. Under the new deal, Swissport will assume responsible for service delivery and support supply-chain growth throughout the fastjet network.
