Boats can fly.

At least, two cutter vessels that were carried onboard one of Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ AN-124-100 freighters can.

The boats were carried from Aquaba, Jordan to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Each boat weighed 14 tonnes and was more than 42.5 feet (13 meters) long and 13 feet (four meters) high.

Standard loading cranes could not be used to put the cutters on the freighter because of their size, so Volga-Dnepr used a rail system instead.

The flight was for air charter specialists Chapman Freeborn.
