Lufthansa Cargo carries less in first quarter
Lufthansa Cargo carried 7.2 percent less cargo during the first quarter of 2013 compared with the first quarter of 2012.
Lufthansa Cargo carried around 400,000 tonnes of freight and mail in the first quarter of the year.
Lufthansa also scaled back capacity by 7.4 percent. Since sales fell by 5.9 percent, the load factor improved by more than one percentage point to 71.4 percent.
"We intend to utilize market opportunities and grow profitably again,” chairman and CEO Karl Ulrich Garnadt said. “To that end, we are investing in our route network and making our services even more attractive to customers."
In March, Lufthansa Cargo began twice-weekly connections to Guadalajara, Mexico. It is also operating an additional freighter service weekly to Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The financial results for the first three months of the year will be published May 2.
