Irish exports to Malaysia plunged 36 percent, year-over-year, in the first half of 2012, an even more dramatic decline than the drop recorded in 2011. Hugh Kelly, the chairman of the Irish Exporters Association’s Asia Trade Forum, said it’s a situation that must be reversed. read more

Middle Eastern cargo remains strong in August

After posting a 16 percent, year-over-year, increase in cargo demand in July, Middle Eastern carriers continued their growth trend in August, reporting an 11.3 percent, year-over-year, rise in airfreight traffic. Such growth bucked the global trend, however; comprehensively, cargo carriers recorded a 0.8 percent, year-over-year, decline in airfreight demand in August despite offering 0.4 percent more capacity. read more

Saudi Cargo expands in West Africa

Saudi Airlines Cargo has continued its push into Africa, launching Boeing 747 freighter service to nine new destinations. In conjunction with its interline partners, Saudi Cargo will now serve the West African cities of Abidjan, Accra, Cotonou, Douala, Libreville, Lome, Malabo, Niamey and Ouagadougou from its Lagos, Nigeria hub. Some of the destinations will even enjoy five-times-weekly service, according to a press release. read more
