On Saturday, June 2, a Boeing 727-200 freighter operated by Allied Air Cargo overshot the runway at Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport and crashed into a minibus, killing at least 10 passengers. The Houston City Council has approved Southwest Airlines’ request for expansion at Houston Hobby International Airport, paving the way for a five-gate, $100 million expansion that will lead to Southwest routes into Latin America. Officials from Airbus and The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) will partner on future humanitarian missions. The agreement, signed at the federation’s home base in Geneva, addresses collaboration in transportation, training and community relations. According to an Airbus press release, this agreement is one of only 11 of the IFRC’s private-sector partnerships around the world. read more
