Boeing celebrates six months of 747-8

Despite a rocky start — two years of production delays and launch customer Cargolux’s “rejection” of its initial order — Boeing has delivered 14 747-8 freighters in the sixth months since the first new cargo plane rolled out of the hangar in Seattle. These freighters have been received by five carriers: AirBridgeCargo Airlines, Atlas Air, Cathay Pacific, Cargolux and Korean Airlines. read more

Paris-based GSSA ECS Group has purchased a controlling interest in Niger Air Cargo, an airline launched recently on the back of a private investor. Niger Air Cargo begins life as an airline with a weekly service between Liege and Niamey, Niger, on either a DC-10 or MD-11. read more

Air France-KLM Cargo increases North American reach

Air France-KLM Cargo and Martinair Cargo have launched services to new destinations and are increasing the frequency of previously served routes. Harm Winkeler, deputy vice president of the Americas for Air France-KLM Cargo and Martinair Cargo, told Air Cargo World that the carriers have especially high hopes for their routes to the Atlanta and JFK airports. read more
