IATA slashes 2012 profit forecast

The International Air Transport Association has downgraded its global profit forecast for 2012 from $3.5 billion to $3 billion amid escalating fuel prices. Air China sees 42 percent decline in 2011 profit

Operating expenses and jet fuel cost rose 28.77 percent and 44.02 percent, year-over-year, for Air China in 2011, leaving operating profit down 42.73 percent when compared to 2010. read more

AA Cargo details expansion plans

Despite filing for bankruptcy in late November, American Airlines is in expansion mode, AA Cargo President Dave Brooks told Air Cargo World. Brooks, who also served as a discussion panelist for the “Doing Business with Latin America” session at AirCargo 2012, revealed that Latin America and Asia are key regions of focus. read more
