Saudi Cargo, NSCSA announce partnership

Saudi Arabian Airlines, which operates a fleet of 140 passenger aircraft and 12 freighters, will use its capacity to transport the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia’s express shipments, according to a press release. It’s a load that will likely increase with time, as the NSCSA benefits from the Saudi Riyal230 million deal it inked with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense in 2011 to meet all of the government agency’s shipping needs for three years. read more

‘I’m a huge believer in air cargo,’ IATA CEO says

In his opening speech on Tuesday morning at the IATA World Cargo Symposium, Tony Tyler, director general and CEO of IATA, covered a broad range of topics relevant to the air cargo industry. A little listening goes a long way. On Monday at the day-long Accredited Training Schools Congress during the IATA World Cargo Symposium in Kuala Lumpur, organizers switched up their approach for the first time from one of telling to a listening strategy. Gathering training representatives together in a small room off the exhibit area, they talked about how best to bring new training practices into the market. Carriers, airports celebrate excellence at Air Cargo World awards

Emirates SkyCargo, Qatar Airways and Southwest Airlines each received platinum awards in their respective tonnage categories at Air Cargo World’s annual Air Cargo Excellence award ceremony Monday at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage, Frankfurt-Hahn Airport and nine other airports from around the globe received awards in the airport competition. read more
