Atlas Air reports mixed results for Q4 2011

Despite an 8 percent, year-over-year, revenue surge, Atlas Air’s fourth quarter net income fell from $41.6 million to $33.5 million, year-over-year. Such discrepancies also extended to Atlas Air’s AMC Charter and Commercial Charter sectors. read more

President Obama signs FAA bill

President Obama ratified the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 on February 14, putting an end to the five-year-long saga that led to the 13-day partial shutdown of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration in July. After 23 temporary bill extensions, the FAA will receive $63 billion through fiscal 2015 to subsidize NextGen air-traffic control modernization projects, safety programs and related operations.

EU, U.S. forge trade agreement for organics

The U.S. and the EU, the world’s largest markets for organics, have signed an agreement to boost the trade of organic goods while protecting product integrity. Starting June 1, products certified as organic in either region can be sold in both the EU and U.S. under that label. read more

Emirates SkyCargo expands in North America

Bolstering trade links between the U.S. and its global network is a key goal of Emirates SkyCargo. With Emirates’ recent launch of daily passenger service to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and the commencement of daily service to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on March 1, the Dubai-based freight carrier will connect seven North American cities with more than 100 global destinations. read more
