FAA proposes new pilot regulations

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has recommend that first officers who fly for U.S. passenger and cargo carriers attain Airline Transport Pilot certification, instead of only commercial pilot certification. Such a designation would require co-pilots to increase their required flight time from 250 hours to 1,500 hours. read more

New Beijing airport projected to be world’s busiest

Chinese authorities are slated to begin construction on Beijing’s newest airport later this year. State-owned China Radio International said that the yet-to-be-named airport will handle 5.5. million tonnes of freight annually when it opens its doors in October 2017. read more

Hong Kong Airlines address dolphin controversy

Hong Kong Airlines has responded to the backlash surrounding its January 16 transportation of five dolphins from Japan to Vietnam. The carrier is also donating an undisclosed amount to an animal charity after an online petition urging it to stop hauling dolphins surfaced last week. read more

KLM flight highlights biofuel development

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has resumed its series of biofuel flights between Schiphol Airport and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport.
