American files bankruptcy

AMR Corp., the parent company of American Airlines, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the Southern District of New York, making it the third major U.S. airline to restructure its business since 2002. Tom Horton chairman, CEO and president of AMR, explained in a video release that services will operate normally during the restructuring, which was a necessary action in order to stay competitive. read more

In October, worldwide cargo volumes fell 4.7 percent, year-over-year, International Air Transport Association data revealed.
