Shannon Airport to house global airfreight hub

The Dublin Airport Authority has inked a deal with U.S.-based Lynxs Group to establish a major airfreight hub at Ireland’s Shannon Airport. Outlined in the agreement are plans to construct a temperature-controlled cargo logistics center that will “radically reposition” Shannon’s freight operations, airport officials said. read more

Etihad CEO James Hogan added to the din of criticism against the European Union’s emissions trading scheme and its application to the aviation industry Thursday, saying the project is simply a way to squeeze money from foreign airlines routing into Europe. At a meeting of the Wings Club in New York City, Hogan said the EU ETS “is not an effective environmental policy.” read more
