Officials at Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited continued to see a downward spiral in cargo throughput last month, noting that July numbers represented a 7.7-percent, year-over-year decrease in tonnage. The second quarter of 2011 signaled good news for Atlas Air’s ACMI operations, with revenues increasing 27 percent from the second quarter of 2010. Executives at the cargo airline attribute much of this growth to higher block-hour volumes — customers outpaced contractual minimums by 4.6 percent during the quarter.
The second quarter of 2011 was particularly strong for Deutsche Post DHL, with the logistics company posting group revenues of €12.8 billion. But it’s DHL’s doubling of EBIT and growth in Europe and the Asia-Pacific that really has DHL spokespeople talking. read more
