Air China adds Houston, and more

Air China will introduce its fifth North American destination beginning July 11, when it launches a service between Houston and Beijing. Initially, the carrier will operate the route four times per week using a B777-300ER. read more

Cargolux installs new chairman

The board of directors at Cargolux, the lossmaking Luxembourg-based all-cargo airline, has elected Paul Helminger as chairman. Three more new directors were also appointed in a move that follows the Luxembourg government’s acquisition of a 35 percent stake in the airline from Qatar Airways on Dec. 31. read more

Frankfurt stays positive as losses narrow

Airports operator Fraport reported 6.7 percent shrinkage in its cargo throughput to 2.1 million tonnes in 2012 at its home base of Frankfurt Airport. The loss of volume came in marked contrast to the record 57.5 million passengers the airport handled during the year, a 1.9 percent increase. read more
