Cargolux begins second Hong Kong-Vienna service

By Hpanchal on October 22, 2013

Cargolux started a second 747-8 freighter service from Hong Kong to Vienna.

The change became effective with the landing of Cargolux flight CV 6713. Representatives of the Vienna International Airport management welcomed the arrival. The Cargolux flights to Vienna on Thursdays and Saturdays are geared toward the import of high-tech products and textiles out of China and are supplemented by the exports of health care products, heavy machinery and spares from Vienna. Cargolux introduced its first Vienna service at the beginning of August. That flight originates in Hanoi and Hong Kong. The rapid success of that service has prompted the second weekly flight to Vienna, a traditional east-west cargo transfer point. In September, the airport handled 22,948 tonnes of freight, an increase of 13.8 percent over the same month in 2012.

It is great to see a rise in the use of freight shipping! That is a huge increase and hopefully airports will continue to handle larger loads of freight over the coming year.
