Compton: Carriers are well positioned to invest in cargo

By John W. McCurry on May 6, 2014

Jim Compton, vice chairman of United Airlines, said despite air cargo’s myriad challenges, he is more optimistic than at any time during his nearly 30 years in aviation.

“These are three exceptional students and they made presentations before some of the premier cargo executives in the industry and they did an excellent job in presenting their issues,” Jones said.

Winner of the top award of US$5,000 was Giuliana Battaglini, a student at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The runner-ups were Charles Zhao, a high school senior who will be attending New York University this fall and Michael Intriago, a high school senior who will be attending the University of West Georgia this fall. Zhao and Intriago each won scholarships worth $2,500.
