Damco was a double winner at the British International Freight Association (BIFA) Freight Forwarding and Logistics Awards, picking up the Supply Chain Management Award and the Staff Development Award.

Uniserve won the Air Freight Award, while other winners at a ceremony in London attended by more than 460 guests were Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, Gefco UK, SBS Worldwide, Allseas Global Forwarding and The Spatial Group.

Kristina Ahrens from Peters & May was awarded the title of Young Freight Forwarder. A special award was presented to Derek O’Brien, the founder of World Transport Agency, who continues to assist BIFA with his knowledge of international trade after 60 years in the industry.

Peter Quantrill, BIFA director general, said: “I applaud the effort put into entries that were of the highest quality. We had a fantastic response to this year’s competition, with six first-time entrants in the shortlist of finalists. This year’s awards showed us that the forwarding industry continues to show great resilience throughout varying economic cycles.”
