THY awaits deal approval with PIA
Turkish Airlines (THY) reportedly is awaiting final government approval of a deal with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) that will see the airline take over some of PIA routes to Europe and the U.S.
A proposed code-share agreement will enable PIA to feed Turkish Airlines over Istanbul for THY flights to New York, Chicago, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Milan, Rome, Barcelona, Birmingham and Manchester.
Under the deal, PIA will operate 21 flights a week to Istanbul from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and provide THY with new markets including Colombo, Kathmandu and Dacca over Karachi.
In a related move, THY will start operating three flights a week to Guangzhou on Jan. 30; four flights a week to Los Angeles on March 3; and a similar frequency to Shiraz, Iran, on March 14.
