China Southern and Sodexi team up

In order to better handle an expanding volume of postal traffic, China Post has contracted with China Southern Airlines to take on a large portion of the mail carriage business. In turn, China Southern has enlisted Sodexi, the express handling branch of Air France Cargo, to help with mail scanning.

Sodexi is based at Paris CDG in a computer-controlled, custom-built warehouse.

According to a Sodexi press release, bags of mail will be flown from China to Paris daily. Once at CDG, mail will be distributed via the Skyteam network. Sodexi is a member of Skyteam.

China Southern thinks this new way of operating will help streamline the process of scanning and delivering mail.

“This agreement represents a perfect match for our development plans as not only will we now handle bigger volumes of postal traffic in Paris, but thanks to China Southern, we will be able to reach other markets such as New Zealand where we currently have no network,” said Sodexi's managing director, JF Bouilhaguet.
