Peter Scholten, vice president commercial for Saudia Cargo for the past four years, is stepping down effective Jan. 15 to pursue other interests, according to a statement from the Jeddah-based carrier.
“His [Scholten’s] contribution has been instrumental to the growth and positioning of Saudia Cargo in the global air cargo business,” said Nabil Khojah, Saudia Cargo’s CEO. “We appreciate Peter’s dedication and contribution over the past four years.”
Scholten, who joined Saudia Cargo in October 2010, has been responsible for global sales and marketing activities for the cargo carrier. He has more than 20 years experience in air cargo. Prior to joining Saudia Cargo, he was vice president, Americas, for Martinair and was based in Miami. He also served as chief commercial officer for Colombia-based Tampa Cargo in 2007, which was majority-owned by Martinair. Tampa Cargo was later acquired by Avianca and is now known as Avianca Cargo. Earlier, he was managing director of Kencargo Airlines, a joint venture between Kenya Airways, KLM and Martinair. Kencargo was later renamed to Kenya Airways Cargo.
Saudia Cargo said Scholten’s successor will be named in “due course.”
