Beginning November 17, the route will be flown three times a week on Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. Flights will depart every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and passengers traveling from Brussels will have access to Thai’s extensive intra-Asian flight network.
What’s more, this route makes Thai the only airline in Southeast Asia to fly between Belgium and Thailand.
Leon Verhallen
Brussels Airport Head of Marketing Leon Verhallen calls UBM Aviation’s Routes Asia events the catalyst for the new service. Although he said that BRU has been in talks with Thai about adding to its Star hub for years, the airport finally made progress at Routes Asia.
“Thai announced as part of their Route Exchange briefing that three weekly frequencies became available for Europe,” Verhallen explained. “We saw many airports competing for this. We are very pleased that our relationship with Thai, with frequent Routes meetings, has resulted in [this] announcement.”
David McMullen, business development director for Routesonline, couldn’t be happier that such connections are forged during the meeting. “We are delighted that the Route Exchange briefings that are held at Routes events act as a clear and effective tool for airlines achieving real success in their network development plans and in helping our airport clients to gain real results,” he said in a statement.
