Cargolux, Europe's largest all-cargo airline, joined others this week in reducing its fuel surcharges in response to the falling fuel price market.
Surcharges on all cargo shipments as of Feb. 5 will drop 5 cents to 45 cents per kilo of actual weight or the local currency equivalent.
Kerosene-type jet fuel at New York Harbor averaged $1.7537 per gallon in the last week of 2005, reached a low of $1.5815 on Jan. 11 and bounced back to $1.7083 on Jan. 19, the last date for which figures are available, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Spot prices around the world have fallen similarly throughout January.
