Deep backlogs are developing in certain Asia markets, says a leading international freight forwarder, with surging demand outpacing available capacity.
According to Seattle-based Expeditors International, delays of several hundred tons are piling up at point of origin in Bangladesh, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia, where many carriers are not accepting bookings for cargo until confirmed space is available.
Backlogs are also forming at major airline hubs in South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan as greater volumes of cargo are transshipping en route to North America.
