Lufthansa Cargo announced that executive board chairman Jean-Peter Jansen plans to step down March 31.
The company said Jansen asked to be relieved of his duties, citing unspecified health reasons.
The carrier has appointed Stefan H. Lauer, chief officer of aviation services and human resources for Deutsche Lufthansa AG, as interim chairman.
Lauer's departure comes after the European Commission and U.S. Justice Department in February said they were conducting an investigation into price-fixing in the air-cargo industry. Lufthansa at the time said it was cooperating with investigators.
Lauer will also give up his post as chairman of the Lufthansa Cargo supervisory board. Wolfgang Mayrhuber, chairman and CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, will take over on a temporary basis.
In other moves, Karl-Heinz, managing director of Lufthansa CityLine, has been named to Lufthansa Cargo's Executive Board. Lufthansa Managing Director Karl-Heinz Köpfle will take over operations at Lufthansa Cargo as of April 1.
