World Pilots Ratify Contract

Pilots at World Airways, represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, ratified a three-year contract by a vote of 242 - 132.

World Airways and the pilots reached a tentative agreement Feb. 5, 2006 and the IBT conducted the ratification vote over the past few weeks. World Airways has a total of 430 pilots flying its MD-11 and DC-10 wide-body aircraft.

"This is a positive step for the company and our crewmembers," said Charlie McDonald, World Airways chief operating officer. "We will continue our focus on improving and strengthening service to our valued military and commercial customers under this mutually beneficial agreement."

World Airways is a charter passenger and cargo airline providing customized transportation services for carriers, international freight forwarders, the United States military and international leisure tour operators. Founded in 1948, World Airways operates a fleet of 17 wide-body aircraft.
