The Senate will attempt to bring the long delayed Federal Aviation Administration Authorization legislation to the floor next week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Thursday.
The legislation, which was approved by the Senate Aviation Committee last May, has languished after disagreements over funding sources for air traffic control modernization developed.
The House version of the legislation, which has garnered a veto threat from the President, includes language that would make it easier for FedEx workers to unionize. It remains to be seen if that language will be included in the version the Senate brings to the floor.
Congress has granted numerous temporary extensions to fund the FAA while the reauthorization bill has been held up, but Thursday Reid said he is ready to move forward.
"We are now moving to the Federal Aviation Authorization," he said.
