Korean Air, Uzbekistan to Cooperate

Korean Air this week made progress in its plan to develop air cargo markets in Central Asia. South Korea's largest carrier on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding with state run Uzbekistan Airways to expand cooperation in international air cargo services.

Under terms of the preliminary agreement, the two will build an international logistics center at Navoi Airport in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan will manage and operate the center with consultation from Korean Air, which will also provide cargo flights from Incheon to Navoi and on to Milan, Italy, three times a week.

The project is contingent on approval from the government of Uzbekistan for construction and financing.
