Southwest Airlines Cargo expanded its Hawaiian service, helping to fill a market void left by the demise of Aloha Airlines, an important inter-island cargo provider.
Southwest added Kahului Maui as a destination through its interline agreement with Hawaiian Air Cargo, which flies 767s nonstop from San Diego. Southwest already partnered with Hawaiian to Honolulu.
"We welcome the opportunity to grow Southwest Airlines Cargo service to Hawaii through our partnership with Hawaiian," said Wally Devereaux, Southwest's director of cargo sales and marketing. "We appreciate Hawaiian's commitment to excellent delivery service, which echoes our goals at Southwest."
