A new generation IL76-TD-90VD is ready for work, Volga-Dnepr announced this week. The overhauled version of the Russian-built all-cargo aircraft will be available for worldwide charters.
Although it had been a freighter workhorse, particularly in the Middle East and Africa, the aircraft was barred from Europe a few years ago under new environmental restrictions. The updated newly built aircraft has an increased maximum payload of 50 tonnes and a longer operating range, Volga-Dnepr said.
The aircraft is the first new generation IL-76 to be awarded a Chapter 4 noise certificate by the International Civil Aviation Organization, allowing global operations including to the important markets of western Europe, North America, Australia and Japan.
