Kitty Hawk, in the third major leadership move in the past month at the cargo carrier, named James Kupferschmid chief financial officer.
Kupferschmid's appointment at the Dallas-based airline, which is pressing a financial recovery since going through bankruptcy protection two years ago, follows the naming of Robert Barron as chief operating officer and logistics industry veteran Raymond Greer to the board of directors last month.
Kupferschmid has worked in the financial world for more than 20 years, including extensive experience with airlines, the cargo business and mergers and acquisitions.
He was most recently a partner in the firm Tatum Partners. Between 1994 and 2001 he held senior positions, including CFO, at Continental Micronesia, a subsidiary of Continental Airlines. He earlier was director of business development for Northwest Airlines and a consultant to Warburg Pincus during an airline leveraged buyout. His work before that included a position at a startup low-cost airline.
