E-freight is live in South Korea, the International Air Transport Association said Tuesday.
South Korea's Customs Service and two airlines launched the system which seamlessly exchanges electronic information and e-documents instead of paper on the first two trade lanes this year.
Korean Air Cargo and Asiana Cargo operate the lanes between South Korea and Singapore and between South Korea and Hong Kong.
IATA plans to implement e-freight wherever feasible by the end of 2010. The airline industry association implemented e-freight in six locations in November 2007 and plans to implement in S. Korea and six other locations by the end of 2008.
