Joining other major airlines in the second boost to fuel surcharges within less than a month, Air France, Lufthansa Airlines and American Airlines Cargo added 5 cents per kilogram to rates pushed by soaring jet fuel costs. Most rates now stand at 60 cents or the local equivalent per kilogram of cargo weight.
Cargolux and Northwest Airlines raised their fuel surcharges last week, adding 9 percent to charges for freight shipments. British Airways World Cargo also announced its second increase last week.
Prices for jet fuel moved to about twice as much as at the first of the year.
