Pilot Taps Into Auto Shipping

Pilot Freight Services launched an automotive shipping and logistics division Nov. 12 that will help the auto industry optimize management of global parts shipments, with flexible scheduling that supports just-in-time inventory and assembly methods. Pilot will be able to help auto industry and related shippers transport auto parts of any weight and size, including components for vehicle assembly and after-market repair and replacement parts.

Pilot's network supports domestic air and ground, international air, ocean, and specialized services.

"Our automotive division's transportation network is perfectly aligned with the auto industry's manufacturing model, and provides the consistent on-time service and global reach the marketplace demands," said Dale Page, Senior Director at Pilot Freight Services, who formerly ran DHL's automotive division.

"We're excited to be extending our four decades of freight-forwarding experience to the automotive sector," said Richard G. Phillips Jr., Pilot's CEO.
