Matching competitors FedEx and UPS, DHL Express today announced a 4.9 percent increase in the net average shipping rate for DHL Domestic Air Express and International Express, as well as an average increase of 4.9 percent for DHL Ground Shipments and DHL@Home.

The air and international hikes include a 6.9 percent average increase in base rates, offset by a 2 percent reduction in the Air fuel surcharge.

The new rates become effective Jan. 6, 2008.
