Vendor logistics for China suppliers
National Retail Systems (NRS) has launched a vendor-controlled logistics service for China-based suppliers of US retailers, pharmaceutical companies and consumer goods manufacturers.
The new offering builds on a 2007 joint venture between NRS and Sinotrans, China's largest logistics company, to provide integrated factory-to-store logistics and includes China transportation services, consolidation, freight forwarding, customs clearance, pier drayage, warehousing and distribution.
Patrick Ahern, vice president, international for NRS said, "Manufacturers in China will gain competitive advantage if they provide comprehensive inventory management solutions for US retailers. Those solutions include managing logistics from factory to store with security and visibility throughout the retail supply chain."
Jonathan Hoch, NRS vice president of international operations added, "Origin logistics and distribution management in the US will increasingly come under the control of manufacturers looking to gain a competitive edge with retailers."
Sinotrans said it made the list of the “2009 Global Top 500 Brands" announced in Tokyo earlier this month. The criteria was based on global reputation, news influence, corporate brand value, response to the global financial crisis – and international communications during the past 15 years.
