National Blankets Kabul

Dale Deacon, manager for National Air Cargo in the Middle East, with Afghan orphans

Employees from National Air Cargo and sister company National Airlines have donated 1,000 blankets to two orphanages in Kabul, Afghanistan. They were shipped on National's weekly DC-8 flight to Bagram air base.

The idea came from Dale Deacon, National Air Cargo Middle East sales manager, after he visited the orphanages in Kabul last month.

Preston Murray, CEO of National Air Cargo and National Airlines said, “I didn’t give it a second thought to approve this type of a program and immediately sent a letter to all of our employees asking them to do as much as possible to assist in this compassionate effort.”

Ghulam Ali Zainal. president of the Department of Orphanages, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Afghanistan accepted the blankets that have been distributed to children aged 2-18 years old.

“When I first saw the conditions of the children in a tour of an orphanage in Kabul I knew there was something we could do as a company to help,” Deacon added.
