ANA Group releases FY2011 strategy
According to its recently released corporate plan for fiscal year 2011, ANA Group, the parent company of All Nippon Airways, is gearing up for a host of changes and expansions.
The airline plans to launch its much publicized joint venture with United Airlines and Continental Airlines on April 1.
“Implementation of the joint venture will call for integration of the airlines’ domestic and international networks, along with common fares and adjustments to their respective timetables. This will enable passengers to choose from a wider selection of convenient flight combinations, while also retaining each carrier’s unique service features,” ANA said in a statement.
While the new alliance is the splashiest news set for the coming year, ANA also is increasing its existing services and updating its fleet. ANA will launch flights between Narita and Chengdu in June using a Boeing 737-700ER. Chengdu is part of the Chinese government’s Chengyu Economic Zone, and ANA hopes to be on the cutting edge of what will likely be rampant development in the area. This routing also is the company’s first direct service to inland China.
The company will also increase frequency on Heneda-Bejing and Haneda-Shanghai routes, and it will use a lager aircraft, a 737-300ER, between Narita-Beijing and Narita-Taipei. These flights will be made possible through the aviation agreement between Japan and China. Haneda Airoprt’s fourth runway will allow the company to add seven routes in and out of the airport. ANA increased services from other Japan airports last year and intends on maintaining those frequencies.
The group’s cargo offerings will also undergo an expansion. An increase in daytime routes to China and Asia is expected, and the company will continue to improve its late-night cargo hub in Okinawa.
